Partners & ProjectsSt. Joseph's at Fleming St. Joseph's at Fleming is an unprecedented endeavor, the result of a partnership between two respected former long-term care providers, Marycrest Home for the Aged and Anson House, and Fleming College. Officially opened in September 2004, the beautiful new facility was designed to promote the best care imaginable, combining unique design features and state-of-the-art technology that together provide a quality living experience for those in need of long-term care in Ontario. St. Joseph's at Fleming's staff and volunteers believe that care and compassion are essential in fostering sanctity of life. Their primary concern is to create a home for Residents where they can be given the best possible care in an environment of personal worth and dignity. The 146,000 square-foot facility was designed to exceed many Ministry standards and incorporates spacious central courtyards, an abundance of windows and natural light, and personalized private and semi-private rooms. Décor reflects a familiar setting, utilizing home-like materials, finishes and colours selected to encourage a cheerful, restful environment. A Resident and family-centred approach reflects the importance placed on treating Residents with respect in keeping with a philosophy dedicated to maintaining a home-like, warm and welcoming environment for everyone concerned. The first long-term care facility built on the campus of a learning institution, St. Joseph's at Fleming houses Fleming College's Institute for Healthy Aging (IHA). This partnership provides rich learning opportunities to staff and students from Fleming College, while creating a truly intergenerational environment and promoting learning and research about best practices in geriatric and long-term care.
